Cheacode Grama Panchayat in Malappuram district is a place of great historical importance. Formerly a part of the Muthuvallur princely state under the Zamorin, the village got its name from the name 'Cheacode Kovilakam'. Evidence that iron processing was carried out in this area in ancient times has been found in Palakkal Illaparam, Vilayil. The thousand-year-old stone inscriptions found by archaeologists at the Perum Thrikkovil temple in Muthuvallur point to the ancient history of this land. Ezhuthachan Pallikkudam and Othupalli were active here in the field of education in the past. The history of the martyrs of Omanur, which tells the story of religious harmony and struggle, belongs only to this land. It was during the reign of Tipu Sultan that the common people of this land, the tenants, began to get real rights to the land. This place, which was active in the anti-British struggle and the Khilafat movement, is rich in the memories of heroic fighters like Parambankunnan Attanunni Haji and Avarankutty Haji. The first Panchayat Board came into existence in this village, which was part of the Malabar District Board under the Madras Province, on December 21, 1963. The bullock cart races that are still popular today and the ritual arts like Thira and Thalapoli, are reminders of the cultural heritage of this place. The Youth Library established in Vila in 1957 and the Omanur Library in 1974 laid the foundation for the knowledge movement of the area. In this way, Cheacode is a Malabar village where ancient history, revolutionary strength and cultural diversity come together.
